The person behind Firefly Designs
I'm Melodie, a self-taught web and brand designer based in Timmins. I live on a farm with more animals than is probably reasonable, and I've always been happiest when I'm making something.
I've been tinkering with websites since the Piczo, Neopets and MySpace days. I grew up around family-run businesses, so I know how much a good website can change a brand.
I started Firefly Designs to help people stand out and uplift Northern Ontario along the way. The name came from our first night on this farm, when thousands of fireflies lit up the field.

Every project starts with a free quote, so you'll know the price up front. All prices are in Canadian dollars. These are my current introductory starting prices while I grow my portfolio. If you decide to add more along the way, we'll talk it through and agree on it together first. No surprises.

First chat

Free mockups
I design 3 or 4 directions for your site in different styles, free and with no commitment.
Choose & get started
Pick a direction, combine ideas, or ask for changes. Once it feels right, we confirm the quote and your deposit starts the full build.
Build & launch
You see the site as it comes together. After final approval and payment, I launch it and show you how everything works.

How long does a website take? ▾
Most sites go from first chat to live in about 2-3 weeks. A one-page Starter site can be quicker. You'll see your first mockups within the first few days, so you'll know early where it's headed.
What do I need to have ready? ▾
Honestly? Nothing. If you have photos, a logo, or words you like, great, send them along. If you don't, we start with a chat about your business and I handle the rest.
What if I don't like the design? ▾
You never commit to something you haven't seen. The first mockups are free, and every package includes revision rounds. We keep adjusting until it feels right.
Who owns the website and domain? ▾
You do. Your domain is registered in your own account, in your name. If you ever want to take the site somewhere else, it's yours.
Do I need to know anything technical? ▾
No. That's the whole point of hiring me. I set up the domain, hosting and email, and show you how everything works in plain words.
How does payment work? ▾
Your first mockups are free. Once you choose a direction and approve the quote, a 50% deposit starts the full build. The remaining balance is due after final approval and before the site is launched.
Do you only work with businesses near Timmins? ▾
I'm based in Timmins and love working with local businesses in Porcupine, Schumacher, South Porcupine, Iroquois Falls, Cochrane and Kapuskasing, but I build for small businesses anywhere in Canada. Everything happens over email, calls or texts, whatever suits you.
